i felt like i had to share this, it was one of those thought that made sense, if only to me. the bass line, has always caught my ear in some way. while watching foghorn stringband today on youtube, it finally made sense. nadine landry the bassist for the band, standing behind "the band" playing without a mic, it dawned on me. the bass controls the brightness or dimness of the room. it almost gives us permission to rest out heads on our partners shoulder during the love songs. and let's us get up on the tables and dance with abandon during the quick ones. enjoy the day, knot

Hi, Knot -- good to hear from you!
I agree with what you said. I've long considered the bass to be the soul of a band. It sort of lurks in the back and sets the tone of a song. Not the most flashy of instruments, but I hate to think what music would sound like without it.
