Rejoice, fans of old school soul music! Stax legend William Bell is back with a new album due out in early June. "This Is Where I Live" was produced by John Leventhal (an excellent choice, indeed!) Take a listen to the first song on the album.

Here's a wonderful new interview with William.

If you're thinking, "It sounds like Cali's gone a little bit bonkers over William Bell", well, you're right! He, Eddie Floyd, and Otis Redding are my three main soul men and what a gift it is to be getting an album of new material from William, age 76.
We lovers of old school music NEED to see William on the MCR stage ASAP!
Here's the song that made me a lifelong fan. This clip is from the last couple of years and you can hear how great (and powerful) William's voice remains.

BTW, it was the Byrds' version of "You Don't Miss Your Water" on their "Sweethearts of the Rodeo" album that inspired me to check out William and his music.

Here's a really good version, just William with Marvell Thomas on piano. Marvell is the son of Rufus Thomas and the brother of Carla Thomas.

And if you can take one more version of this classic song, here's a really wonderful one from Ruthie Foster with special guest William Bell.
