Everyone who is drawn here is influenced in some way musically. Whether you play or not, you must enjoy music in order to be drawn to MCR each week. So here is a thread where everyone can chime in and share who influenced them to be the music lover they are today. I'll start off and list some of my own.
I wrote in another thread that Cass and myself are very influenced by singer/songwriter Rik Emmett.
I also grew up going to music acts primarily by my uncle's band. (No one anyone would know here, just a local bar band type of thing.) Also, a cousin of mine played in a local band in central Indiana in which he was the lead guitarist. Those were fun years.
I was involved in music from middle school bands all the way thru high school, so that was the beginning of playing music myself.
I've always owned something that I could play music on.
Other musicians that have always garnered my attention are fingerstyle guitarists, banjo players like Grandpa Jones, Leroy Troy, Uncle Dave Macon, Kyle Creed, Wade Ward, Matokie Slaughter, Ola Belle Reed (Whom I named my banjo after!!!!!!!! Her name is Ola Belle , Steve Martin. I also am in awe of other style banjo players and enjoy them as well, Ron Stewart, Noam,.Mike Munford, Mark Johnson (another clawhammer player) etc..etc.....
I also really like the sound of PRO, which is a latin style acousitc guitar band album made up of Pavlo, Oscar Lopez and Rik Emmett. Really good stuff on that album. All instrumentals. You Can't sit still listening to this one.
Bill Monroe, Blue Highway, Frank Solivan and DK, Gibson Bros, Dailey & Vincent, Doyle Lawson, Del McC, Ralph Stanley,...etc....etc....
Non Bg type influences are Triumph, Styx, many southern rock bands such as Blackfoot.....CCR, Mountain, Marshal Tucker, Ozark Mountain Daredevils.....
Chicago,, Bread....I better stop while the internet still has room for others to type!!!!!!
