We lost another banjo great this week. (May 3, 1919 – January 27, 2014) What a great banjoist the world had lost! Pete Seeger

Maybe, just maybe we'll get to have a Pete Seeger Jam this week? Pete was quite the innovator of Americana music. Pete Seeger

Moose, thanks for posting these. The world has lost a great humanitarian as well as a great musician.

Here are a couple of quotes from Pete Seeger during his life: "We're all different but we're all singing together. It gives you hope" And this one is quite poignant in itself as for the whole reason we have started this thread, "To my old brown earth and to my old blue sky, I'll now give these last few molecules of "I"." Thanks for the vid links Terra. Here is another neat article about how Pete reached out to a fan via letter and the letter arrived just a day after his passing. How neat. It is like Pete is still inspiring fans even after he has passed. I am sure will continue to inspire many as his legacy is visited and revisited. Pete's Last Letter

Terrapin, what a wonderful film clip of Pete and Johnny Cash! I got a kick out of Pete's mention of the "Monkey Ward" mail order catalog. We old timers know that he was referring to the Montgomery Ward company. My parents took us kids to Monkey Ward's, as they called it, every year right before school started so that we could each get a new pair of Keds shoes. The concrete walkway in front of our local MW contained crushed glass and sparkled in the sunlight -- I loved it. Cali

Hi guys. One of my students just loves Pete's children's story-song called "Foolish Frog". We played it today. Big smiles :-)))

Thanks all for the wonderful links and stories. The letter is the second one I've seen in answer to a fan. In both cases, Pete wrote his response on the original letter, where space permitted. He will always have my heartfelt admiration and gratitude.
