The world lost one half of one of the greatest and most influential pop music duos ever, Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers. May you rest in peace, Phil. Don's and your music will live forever in the hearts of fans of great music. The Everly Brothers ~ "So Sad (To Watch Good Love Go Bad)" www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z3qOzsVviII had the privilege and pleasure of seeing the Everly Brothers in concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in 1985. Here's a clip from their performance at London's Royal Albert Hall. The Everly Brothers ~ "Let It Be Me" ( Live Albert Hall) HQ www.youtube.com/watch?v=4d1ig-dYuLkI've always loved this song by the Everly Brothers, written by Everlys mega-fan, Paul McCartney. (Who do you think inspired those awesome Beatle harmonies?) The Everly Brothers ~ "On The Wings Of A Nightingale" www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKOxbA_W_5QThis one was written by Phil: The Everly Brothers ~ "When Will I Be Loved" www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPwasXoxqe8And one more: The Everly Brothers ~ "Walk Right Back" www.youtube.com/watch?v=k02gi1lciHgCali

I came across this today and thought maybe everyone would enjoy the read. It is an article about one of Phil's last public performances as well as a great tribute to him. Remembering Phil Everly

Moose, thanks for posting these great videos. I especially enjoyed seeing the Buddy Holly tribute with Phil, Raul Malo of the Mavericks, Chris Isaak (resplendent in blue), James Burton, and Albert Lee. If there is anything good about Phil's passing, it is that people who are unfamiliar with the music of the Everly Brothers are starting to hear it on the internet, perhaps for the first time. My sister, who is familiar with their hit songs, is now beginning to dig a little deeper into their music for those 'buried' gems.

Thanks for this post Cali. I never really thought of someone like Vince Gill being influenced by Phil Everly. What a nice article!

Found this on the internet today: Bonnie Raitt, Ry Cooder Top Everly Brothers Salute Tonight www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/posts/la-et-ms-phil-everly-brothers-tribute-troubadour-americana-bonnie-raitt-rodney-crowell-20140125,0,5222454.story#ixzz2rT8cL3jj There seems to be no end to the incredible musicians who were influenced by the music of the Everly Brothers (no surprise there!). I see that Jim L. is scheduled to be there tonight. I was curious where he might be headed after last night's show in Portland, OR. I was thinking maybe to Los Angeles for the Grammy Awards, since his and Buddy's album, "Buddy & Jim" has been nominated (yes, I'm rooting for them to receive the award). I hope Jim is feeling okay today after drinking all that Columbia River sludge water, oops, I mean 'elixir of life', yesterday in Portland! Cali P.S. The above link is doing the funky-monkey for some reason, but if you cut and paste it into your URL box, I think it'll take you to the right place.

Here's an article on the Everly Brothers tribute show in L.A. last weekend. I hope this show was recorded and will be available for us music fans to watch, either online or on public television. I would LOVE to hear Jim L. and Rodney Crowell's rendition of the lovely "Let It Be Me", which has to be my all-time favorite EB song. www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/bonnie-raitt-t-bone-burnett-674144Cali

What a nice article. Great pics and I agree...there are a tLOt of MCR alumni listed therein! Don't-cha just love the shot of Jim L singing his heart out with his head thrown back?
