Hello!
Just a little about polls, threads, posts, and attachments.
How To Create A New Thread
On the Home page of the forum, which is where the boards and categories are listed; and clicking on a board will bring you to the place where you can post threads.
You may start a thread in a board by clicking the "Create Thread" button on the upper right hand corner of the green bar on top, the second one down from the top picture. The button is purple colored.
If you don't see the button, the forum administrator (me! ) or one of the Mods (Moose ) may have set that thread so that only forum staff can post there. That means that while you can reply to threads the staff has made in there, you are unable to make a new thread yourself.
Once you have clicked the button in a board where you can, it will go to the "create a thread" page:
Subject: This is the title of your thread. It will appear in the list of threads in the board you're posting in. Make sure it's relevant! You can preview your thread by clicking the "[preview" button on the left under the text area. To continue building your post click the "BBCode" button next to it.
Add A Poll: You can add a poll to the thread so that others can vote for things for your thread.
To do so, just click the "Add Poll" button on the right of the Subject box on top of the "create new thread" page. When you do this a pop-up window will come up and you'll be prompted with several things to fill in:
Poll Question: This is the question your poll is asking, and also the subject.
Poll Answers: These are the options your voters can choose from.
Poll Options: In this area, you'll be able to define how many answers member's are allowed to choose when voting in the poll. You can also set a date and time for when the poll gets locked, preventing further voting in the poll, as well as when to show the results of the poll to members.
Then just click "Add Poll".
Add Event: If the forum calendar is enabled, and your account is in a member group that has permission to add events to the calendar, the "Add Event" button will be available to you. If you would like to add an entry to the forum's calendar that will link back to your thread once it's created, you can do so here. After you click the Add Event button, a window will pop up asking you for a date and time for the event, as well as an end date if needed. Once you have the details filled out, click the "Add Event" button found at the bottom of the pop-up window and an event will be created in the forum calendar after you have created your new thread.
Add Attachment: If the forum staff has attachments enabled, you will see this button on the posting page. After you click the Add Attachment button, a new window will pop up letting you know how many files you can upload at a time, along with what the file size limit per attachment is. To attach a file, click the "+ Add Files..." button, and then choose a file that you would like to upload from the Browse window that pops up. Once you choose a file, you will see a progress bar for the attachment that is uploading.
How To Reply To A Thread
To reply to a thread, go to thread in question and click the "reply" button, which is purple colored, and located in the upper right hand corner of the thread just above the OP (OP stands for Original Post, the post made by the creator.)
Another way is to scroll to the bottom and type your reply in the Quick Reply Box. This offers no formatting options, such as the ones here- bold, italics, underlined, strikethrough, superscript, subscript, hyper-links, inserting and many more things. However it does allow you to post rapidly if you don't have much time.
If you see no reply options on the thread it may be locked, meaning no one but staff can reply.
Quoting a post in your reply: You can click the quote button on the style bar in the new reply page, and put the text you want quoted in the brackets, or click "quote" on a post in a thread. It will take you to the reply page with that quote at the top of your message.
Add a video to your post: You can embed a video in your post by clicking the button and you will be prompted by a popup window to copy and paste the video link into the box. Then you can select the video's host and click "instert video". When you post your reply/thread, the video will be in your post.
