Well, we didn't get the Ray Price song we were sure we'd get for the jam! But it was ok, the jam was good anyhow. Cali, I promised to tell something I'd heard Tom Petty say in an interview once. He said he had run into Roger McGuinn and Roger told him this story. One of Tom's earlier songs was playing on the radio one day as Roger was listening. He heard one of Tom's songs come on but didn't hear it introduced. The voice was so much like his own that Roger thought it was actually something, or one of the many many songs he'd recorded in his career, but Roger said he couldn't remember doing that song! So Roger was a bit stymied by it til he found out it was actually Tom Petty singing! Tom often sounds so much like Roger that it even fooled Roger! I think Tom also has many times mentioned that Roger is an influence in his music. I just thought that was funny when I heard it. Moose

Moose, I have read about Roger McGuinn telling that story. It cracks me up! If I remember correctly, Roger also said that he didn't know why anyone would want to sing like him. Here's the song that he was talking about: Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers ~ "American Girl" www.youtube.com/watch?v=33mec03xeowHere's one from both of them, off of Roger's album, "Back from Rio". Can you tell who is who on the lead vocals? I'll give you a hint -- the Gainesville, FL boy has a "Southern Accent". Roger McGuinn and Tom Petty ~ "King of the Hill" www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wr_LtVkCe18Cali

Sorry, you mentioned Tom Petty. Here he is in some great company. Sadly, we have lost some of them. The Traveling Wilburys - End of the Line Petty, Orbison, Harrison, Dylan, Lynn, and I don't know who is on drums. Bet Lizzy knows... Art

It has been a long, long time since I heard TP say that in an interview and I could not remember all of the details or if Tom elaborated more. So it is nice to finally know what song it was that lead Roger to wonder. What a neat piece of music trivia to know. Yes, in the vid of them singing together, you have to listen hard to tell who is who! But I think I have it figured out! Moose

The Traveling Wilburys - End of the Line Petty, Orbison, Harrison, Dylan, Lynn, and I don't know who is on drums. Bet Lizzy knows... Art Art, I believe the drummer is Jim Keltner. He is a very popular sessions drummer in the industry. From what I understand, he has drummed for the likes of Gary Lewis & The Playboys, 3 of the Beatles on some of their solo work,Leon Russell, Clapton, Dylan, Roger McGuinn, Joni Mitchell, Booker T and the MGs, Alice Cooper, Neil Young just to name a very few!!!!! It must be nice to work hard and get to work in the music industry and always find work as he seems to do. But I am sure that he has earned this respect in his field or he would not be as busy as he is. Moose

I always say I am as smart as my internet connection! ha! But actually, Cass and I looked him up last summer cause we got real curious as to who was drumming. We like to watch a bit of the Wilburys from time to time. Moose
