Lately I've been reading interviews of Jim L. where he mentions that his new song, 'I'm a Song', was inspired by his attempt to pin down his basic distillation of essence as a human being. That got me wondering, "Hmm, is there a song out there that describes me? I'm so weird, how could there possibly be?" Then I remembered this song by the Go-Gos, off of their album, 'Vacation'. The Go-Gos ~ "Girl of 100 Lists" www.youtube.com/watch?v=99RQKpxDYw0Here are the lyrics: www.metrolyrics.com/girl-of-100-lists-lyrics-the-gogos.htmlMy 100 lists are quite different than the ones mentioned in the song. The online bulletin board, Pinterest, is really just a digital-age, image-based version of lists. I currently have 81 Pinterest boards, ranging in topic from music to nature to animals to crafts to health to architecture to jewelry to fractals to crop circles to......well, you get the picture..... And then there are my lists on paper. And my 10,000 little slips of paper with items waiting to be added to a particular list. I'm a disorganized mess, but oh, how I love my many lists! Is there a particular song that describes you to a T?

Good Thread idea Cali! And after reading your input, Cali, you "Girl of a 100 lists"......I can't help but wonder if we were separated at birth!!! ha! I drive Mr Moose nuts with my lists all over the house and also...important notes on paper here and there that need to be transcribed/transferred to their appropriate locations! Agh ! Never organized the office when we moved in!It's still on the "to-do" list when I slow down! But then I have lots of other projects and show to do at festivals, clogging steps to put into songs for next season, a room to paint and a floor to paint and windows to rebuild......boxes from storage that need to be dug thru......dishes, laundry & cleaning always need attention as well as Mr Moose ...ahem..........and I need to spend some extra time with my banjo and my new fiddle........and I gotta make time for MCR! And this brings me to the song that is mostly me at this place and time in my life! It is called "Everything All The Time"! Cause I do feel like my life is full of EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME! But somehow, I love the crazy of it all! Everything All The Time

Those are some good ones Art! I haven't heard either of them in a good 20 or more years! I'll have to look up all the songs from that New Christy Minstrells LP and listen to them again. Like everything else, I am sure they are on the web somewhere!

Cool songs, Art! "Green, Green" is probably one of my earliest musical memories, as my dad loved the Christies. The We Five remind me of the Byrds, with their rich folk harmonies and jangly Rickenbacker guitar. Good stuff! Cali

These are great picks so far! Clogger - yours, especially, is just perfect! (I love that song) Mine is a bit more lighthearted, but describes me pretty well - when I'm at a festival at least (except for the gettin' high part...not my thing, haha). Fuzzy Little Hippie Girl (written by "Smilin' Joe" Smith and performed by Great American Taxi)

WE ALL ROCK!! I've had fun finding out a little bit more about each of you. Please feel free to post more than one song that describes you. After all, we're multi-dimensional human beings with many layers of complexity, although Lizzy professes to be a "Simple Man" at heart and I like that. Here's another one that I can really relate to and it happens to be by one of my two favorite bands in the Universe: The Byrds ~ "Turn Turn Turn" (with lyrics) www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_zXhD3vZ_gI love that the words have been taken from the Bible, I love that the song was written by Pete Seeger, I love Jim McGuinn's chiming Rickenbacker sound and the Byrds' angelic harmonies, I love the message of hope, and I especially love that the lyrics speak to the duality of life. The latter especially resonates with me. When I was in sixth grade, I found out that my astrological sign is Libra, the scales of balance. Even though I have never followed astrology, I was disappointed that I didn't have a more 'fun' sign -- what could possibly be more boring to an eleven year old girl than a set of scales? But as I've gotten older, I've seen how appropriate the scales are to me -- two seemingly opposite sides always trying to find balance. And this song speaks to how it all fits perfectly into the Plan.

Nice, Moose. Peaceful but soulful..... Downloaded it (bought it!) and been listening to it a lot! It is more like Peaceful but with "pep in your step"! I like it! I'm think I'm gonna check out more by this guitarist! Just stumbled on him on the good old YouTube. He's been on MCR....but I don't specifically remember him.....
