For Saturday Chris Smither - Link of ChainWillie Nelson in a suitSomething from my youth Archie Bell and the Drells - Tighten UpJoe Tex - More Joe Tex - watch him dance with that mic stand. CHICAGO ROCKS!!!!Lizzy, these two rock but are really long FULL albums Chicago Transit Authority Chicago II Worth listening to because this was the the crossover period between the music of the '60s and '70s. Chicago went on to create over 25 albums and is still out there playing today! But I like their original albums best Art There you Go Again Art All Killer Songs Chris Smither video was at McCabe's Guitar Shop used to live really close to there for 17 years I am mad at myself for not seeing shows there it was during my rocking days not many shows with drummers LOL. I did try when Ann and Nancy Wilson and Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds played there but both Shows sold out in minutes! I always like Willie! Archie Bell its always good to tighten up on the Drums! 2 Killer albums from Chicago Cool Band to see Live and I have a few Chicago CD I have not played in a long time! Thank you! P.S. As you know Art I am needy can you Teach Me some Joe Tex dance moves? Artrice Rocks! Lizzy

I've had the opportunity to enjoy everything from Big Band up through the present day. (not to sure about hip hop and rap) Really do enjoy most genres of music. Not really too keen on the overdriven solid state amps of the 80's but I guess its better than rap. And, in addition to standard Broadway such as South Pacific, Cats, My Fair Lady, etc, etc, etc... (The King and I.) something called ROCK entered the scene in the 60's. HAIR TOMMY GODSPELL And by far the best (and very controversial) JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. My feeling is that JC Superstar is by far the best musically and the one that will be remembered long after the other three are forgotten. (Not going to get into religious discussions about it.) The original recording from 1970 is an exceptional piece of work. If you can get the original (not the movie) do so. Ian Gillian of Deep Purple fame has the lead. Actually, the original recordings of all four of these are the best in my opinion. The movies and remakes just seem to be lacking something, soul maybe. Technically, Hair, Tommy, and Jesus Christ Superstar are superb through a good stereo or headphones. Godspell lags behind in that respect. Jesus Christ Superstar and Hair have the best bass lines and Tommy makes the best use of stereo separation. Then Disco came along and the whole world went downhill. Art

Whoa! I am still catching up in this thread! I have got as far as Johnny Winters. Wow the guy is 69 years old and even tho he sits to play...those fingers can still run all over that fretboard and make great solos come out! Had no idea he was still out there doing his thing.
And my husband likes 38 special..he likes a lot of the southern rock too like Lynyrd and Joe Walsh. He also likes Jay Ferguson..remember that one? Clogger and I have been working away from home a lot lately so we see we are behind here!

The Fabulous Thunderbirds "Tuff Enough link
Lizzy, I AM FELLING IT! I was thrilled to see that Gene Taylor was in the Fabulous Thunderbirds. He really knows how to rock a piano. I'd totally lost track of him; in fact, I wasn't sure that he was even still alive. Apparently, he's now living in Belgium. I saw him play several times in the early '80s when he was with the Blasters. I remember one time at the Hollywood Palladium when I was standing out front before a Blasters show and I heard some guy say "Hi, Gene" to another guy who was walking through the crowd. I was surprised to see that it was Gene Taylor and wondered what he was doing out front with all the fans.
